SPONSORSPARTNERS
The UK Sponsorship Awards (UKSA) team is expanding the scope of its international category to include entries that don’t have a connection with the UK. To qualify, entrants simply need to show that their campaign has been activated in any two or more territories.
All other categories require a connection to the UK as part of their criteria. The decision to remove this requirement from the international category means UKSA can now welcome a wider range of work and showcase best in class campaigns across borders.
“The new-look international category is still about demonstrating the success of a sponsorship strategy in multiple markets,” says UKSA organiser Rosemary Sarginson. “We expect most entries will come with some level of UK-based activation, even if it is just localised social media activity. But the door is now open for us to recognise bold campaigns that have a distinctive centre of gravity. It seems logical to extend the category in this way given the level of interconnectedness that now exists between brands and audiences around the world.”
Winners in this category typically demonstrate clear objectives behind their international profile, and can point to successful, tailored executions on the ground. Last year’s winner was Heineken’s When You Drive, Never Drink, with DP, Warner Bros Discovery and Budweiser on the shortlist. The year before, New Balance secured the category win with a campaign entitled We Got Now.
The final deadline for UKSA 2024 is two weeks away - Tuesday January 23rd 2024. Brands, agencies, rights holder, charities and other sponsorship stakeholders can enter campaigns via the UKSA website. Finalists will be celebrated and winners revealed at UKSA’s 30th Anniversary gala awards event on March 26th 2024, at the London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square.
