Insurance broking and risk management company Gallagher has signed a three-year deal to become the Official Insurance Partner of Premiership Women’s Rugby (PWR), strengthening its long-standing commitment to supporting rugby at every level, from grassroots to the professional game.
Building on its eight-year relationship with PREM Rugby, and its partnerships with the Women’s Rugby World Cup, and New Zealand Rugby, including the Black Ferns, this new alliance marks another step in Gallagher’s ambition to empower the next generation of rugby talent.
Gallagher will support the growth of women’s rugby both on and off the pitch by creating leadership, coaching and community development opportunities that mirror the company’s own principles and culture.
As the women’s game continues to surge following a record-breaking World Cup, Gallagher’s partnership with PWR provides a platform to create pathways for women and girls in sport. Gallagher has already launched successful initiatives in this space including the High Performance Academy, which is a global development and leadership programme, run by World Rugby and Gallagher, that focuses on increasing the number of female coaches and leaders in high-performance rugby roles.
Earlier in the year the firm launched the Gallagher Touchline Academy, a free rugby teaching programme, created in partnership with Premiership Rugby clubs, designed to upskill 2,000 teachers by 2028 to shape the next generation of rugby players.
Sarah Griffiths, Director of Marketing & Communications at Gallagher said: “The growth of women’s rugby is one of the most exciting stories in sport and we are delighted to support PWR as it continues to inspire players and fans across the country. This is a partnership that reflects our belief in equality, empowerment and teamwork – values that sit at the heart of both Gallagher and the game. Just as we help our clients face their future with confidence, we are looking forward to supporting the growth of the women’s game and building on the incredible legacy created by the Red Roses this summer.”
Genevieve Shore, Executive Chair of Premiership Women’s Rugby, commented: “Gallagher has proven over many years that it is a steadfast supporter of rugby and has played a huge part in the game’s success over recent years. I am certain that bringing that energy to PWR will give us the perfect platform to capitalise on the success of the World Cup and continue to grow the women’s game and inspire future generations to pick up a rugby ball.”
