Co-operative Appoints Octagon For ITV Activation

Sports and Entertainment agency Octagon has been appointed by The Co-operative Group to activate the organisation’s sponsorship of ITV National Weather and STV Weather. Earlier this year the Co-operative signed a 12 month deal with ITV and Scottish Television that will give The Co-operative visual and verbal branding before and after the ITV and STV Weather reports which are broadcast three times a day.

Octagon will work with The Co-operative to create a leveraging campaign to support the sponsorships by utilising the assets which include appearances from both ITV and STV’s weather team and access to weather reports that can be used in stores. Octagon will also use the sponsorship to create events that will promote local shops and suppliers and encourage people to shop locally.

The Co-operative’s Head of Sponsorship Liz Matkin said “Our deal with ITV and STV is not just a media spend but very much a partnership. Octagon has a great track record of running integrated campaigns around broadcast and entertainment sponsorships and we look forward to working with them on this campaign.”

Octagon Director of Music & Entertainment, Alex Sanders said, “ITV National Weather alone peaks at seven million viewers in the early evening news slot so will give The Co-operative excellent awareness at key moments throughout the day. This sponsorship is a great brand fit and will give The Co-operative a fantastic opportunity to maximise the connection between seasonal food and the weather.”
