Savills Partners Surrey County Cricket Club

Real estate adviser Savills is to become a community partner of Surrey County Cricket Club and the headline partner for the Oval Community Plus initiative.
The agreement will see the firm giving financial support to the club’s community programme and be of benefit to children and young people across inner London.
Savills sponsorship arrangement will help to secure existing community programmes currently at risk from government funding. The firm will become overall supporter of the Ben Hollioake Learning Centre (BHLC), a state-of-the-art classroom built within the Kia Oval, which delivers numerous projects including flagship study support scheme ‘Playing for Success’, the Gifted and Talented initiative, the Howzat Education Project and the Re-engagement programme.
The agreement will also see Savills staff enter into a volunteer programme to include after school mentoring and coaching at BHLC, which attracts over 1,300 children and young people every year. The firm has committed to providing work experience opportunities for some members of the community programme.

In the UK Savills supports two main corporate charities, Honeypot and LandAid. Its graduate team continue to support I CAN, a charity assisting children with speech, language and communication needs by carrying out projects at the Meath School in Surrey raising money and spending a day per person at the school to work on a project to build an outdoor classroom. In addition the firm supports charitable events on a national and regional level throughout the calendar year.

Surrey CCC Secures Jardine Lloyd Thompson

Surrey County Cricket Club has secured a major three-year partnership with the Jardine Lloyd Thompson group. The deal – which will see the company become the official sponsor of Surrey’s youth cricket programme and County Age Group scheme – is an expansion of the existing relationship that has been forged between Surrey and JLT in recent years.

Between 350 and 400 children will be playing in the County Age Group (CAG) scheme for Surrey this summer – and all will wear brand new shirts bearing the JLT logo.  Jardine Lloyd Thompson will also become a major partner of the Friends Life t20, providing a new award for the FLt20 Player of the Season which will be presented at the End of Season Awards on Thursday September 15th.

Speaking after signing the deal, Richard Gould, the recently appointed Chief Executive of Surrey County Cricket Club, said: “Developing young players is one of the most important things we do as a Club and the support of forward thinking companies like Jardine Lloyd Thompson is absolutely crucial to that. Having already enjoyed a successful partnership, I am very happy that JLT have decided to increase their involvement with us and look forward to working with them in the years to come.”

Havas S&E To Manage Kia Oval Rebrand

Having brokered the deal back in December for Kia Motors UK to become the headline sponsor of The Oval Cricket Ground, sports marketing agency Havas Sports & Entertainment has also been appointed to manage the brand changeover of the iconic London cricket ground.
Kia signed a five year deal giving the brand the brand full and exclusive naming rights to the ground and makes Kia the primary shirt sponsor for Surrey County Cricket Club. The deal is worth over £3.5m to the Club over its duration.
The agreement will see the continuation of Kia’s relationship with the Havas Media group as Havas Sports & Entertainment take responsibility for the delivery of the various benefits negotiated through the deal including both internal and external signage, branding on all Surrey playing shirts as well as a number of hospitality and promotional benefits throughout the season. The deal came into force on January 1st 2011, and the ground is now known as the Kia Oval.
Further support for the sponsorship will be provided by MPG Media Contacts. Following their recent negotiation of Kia’s broadcast sponsorship of ITV’s coverage of the FA Cup, the media planning and buying arm of Havas Media will provide additional support for the sponsorship with key media purchases throughout the local region.
Havas Sport & Entertainment COO Marcus Wight said “We are delighted to continue our work with Kia Motors UK. With HSE’s strong background in cricket we believe we can ensure their first foray into the sport is a resounding success”.
The deal is Kia’s first entrance into the cricket market; the company currently has worldwide commercial partnerships with the FIFA World Cup and Australian Tennis Open. Further to this, it employs current world number one Rafael Nadal as a brand ambassador and is also the Official Automotive Partner of the National Basketball Association (NBA) in the United States, sponsoring thirteen individual teams.
Kia is a major global player in the automotive industry and part of the fourth largest automobile manufacturing group in the world.

Kia Signs As Lead Sponsor of Surrey County Cricket Club

International car manufacturer Kia has signed as lead sponsor of Surrey County Cricket Club and The Oval cricket ground.

The firm, which has signed a five year deal, will have full and exclusive naming rights to the historic ground and become the primary shirt sponsor for Surrey County Cricket Club. The deal is worth over £3.5m to the Club over its duration.

Kia takes over from Brit Insurance as the Club and ground’s primary partner. As well as the ground naming rights and the firm’s logo on Surrey shirts, Kia will also have a number of hospitality and promotional benefits throughout the season. The deal will come into force on January 1st 2011, from whence the ground will be known as the Kia Oval.

The deal is Kia’s first foray into the cricket market; the company currently has worldwide commercial partnerships with the FIFA World Cup and Australian Tennis Open. Further to this, it employs current world number one Rafael Nadal as a brand ambassador and is also the Official Automotive Partner of the National Basketball Association (NBA) in the United States, sponsoring thirteen individual teams.
